February 8th, 2018

Dear Parents,

I hope you all enjoy the 'extra long' family day weekend.  Just a reminder that tomorrow is a altered calendar day, Monday is Family Day and Tuesday is a non-instructional day.  Our first day back is Valentine's Day!  We will be having our class party and exchanging Valentine's Cards.  I have reposted the class list  to ensure that you are able to send a valentine for each child.  Thank you!  I have also included a reminder of the names of people who have signed up to send treats.

*We will have our class Valentine's Day party on Wednesday, February 14th.  Thanks in advance to the following people for sending snacks: Lucas (fruit tray)  Cheese/crackers (Danika), Sweet Treat (Angelina), Popcorn and/or Chips (Carter) and 'Other' (Wyatt).  We don't have anyone signed up to bring a small veggie tray for this party but if anyone would like to please email me.  Thank you!
*Here is a class list for anyone who would like to get started on making Valentine's cards:

Lucas   Paityn   Cash   Eugene   Dyllan   Logan   Isabella   Riana   Danika   Angelina
Landon   Collette   Wyatt   Nevaeh   Carter   Quinn   Averyelle   Mataya   Royce   Austyn

Updates/Reminders/Thankyou's

*February is a very busy month, please check the calendar on this blog for all of the important dates
*The Leadership group has moved their bake sale to fundraise for Haiti to February 28th
*Please sign up for a conference via the parent portal if you have not already done so  (Reminder:  You will be with your child for the 15 minutes you signed up for and then you will stay for an additional 15 minutes when we will all meet together to set goals for the final term)
*Valentines day is on our first day back to school but it is also 'Poem in your Pocket' day for Club Red.  Please see the 'Club Red' information sheet for more details
*Our skating field trip permission has been sent via the parent portal.  Please sign your child up if you have not already done so.  Drivers will be needed, please ensure that you have a current driver's abstract in the office if you are volunteering.  Thank you!
*There  is a 'Spelling City' link on this blog which offers a variety of games to make spelling  practice more fun.  We have used this in the computer lab so your children know how to use it.  Please check your child's planner on Wednesday and/or Thursday nights and help them with their spelling as needed.
*Fridays we also send home the 'Poetry and More' duotangs.  Please read the latest poems/songs with your child each week.  We are currently learning some new songs for 100 Day! :)
*Please see the photo of the 'Literacy Night' poster on the previous post.  If you would like to attend you need to RSVP to the email on the poster.

Have a great weekend, everyone!
