November 27th/15

Hello Everyone,

It is another beautiful fall day in British Columbia.  It is sunny but cold and we have been enjoying the dry days outside.

Reminders/Information

*please sign up for a student led conference if you have not already done so (last week's post explains how to do this)
*the December calendar is now on this blog under 'Monthly Calendar'
*we are looking for medium sized pinecones for a craft if anyone has some that they would be willing to donate (50 in total as we are doing this with Mrs. Rowledge-Toscani's class
*this Thursday we will have our free pizza lunch (the prize we won for returning the Entertainment books the quickest).  Each student will receive one piece of pizza so please send other lunch/snack foods and drinks to augment this.  Thank you!
*students have brought home three songs/poems today.  Two are for our Christmas concert (see calendar for time/dates) and one is for a presentation our class is doing at the assembly this Thursday.  Please help your child practice these with a focus on the assembly poem as that is coming soon.
*a reminder that we play out in the forest at least once/week (usually Thursdays).  Please ensure that your child has proper footwear for this
*please complete the portal form for your child to attend our upcoming skating field trip.  Parent drivers will be needed for this.  Thank you!
*your children are being Santa's helpers this year-please see the yellow sheet sent home yesterday regarding the upcoming toy drive

Have a great weekend, everyone and enjoy the sunshine!

November 18, 2015

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for coming to see me regarding drivers.  We now have just enough space for everyone to attend.  I am posting this message early this week (along with a reminder in your child's planner to check the blog) due to the field trip this Friday.

Reminders/Information

*Please send a booster seat with your child on Friday.  EVERY ONE in the class must have one as no one in the class meets the age, height/weight requirements.  We only have a very limited number of extra car seats available at the school.
*Please send a snack in your child's pocket.  This should be an 'easy to eat' snack as we will be eating it outside of the Fort (most likely standing up)
*Please dress your child ready for the weather as this field trip takes place both indoors and outdoors
*Please note that we will still be having Family Reading this Friday as we don't leave for the field trip until 9:15 (parent drivers please be here at 9:10)
*If you have not already done so, please sign your child up for the Kathleen Hatley health talk (if you would like your child to attend).  Mrs. Watkins sent out a message to do this via the parent portal.
*a big thank you to Vincent's family for donating some books to our class, they are now available to borrow
*the 'Art' cards went home earlier this week, inside each card has the ordering procedure
Please
*please see the previous post to see our Christmas Concert costume plan, we are Who's from Whoville! :)
*****PLEASE NOTE THAT THE CONFERENCE SIGN UP TIMES ARE NOW AVAILABLE ON THIS BLOG UNDER 'USEFUL LINKS' (CONFERENCE SIGN UP)  The conferences are half an hour long.  The first 15 minutes you will be sharing your work with your child in the hallway and then the second 15 minutes we will be celebrating his/her learning together in the classroom.

Thank you,

Amanda Roberts

November 13, 2015

Hi Everyone,

I hope you all managed to stay dry during our rainstorm last night!  It is still pretty wet at Fairview today!

Information/Reminders

*our Fort Langley field trip is next Friday, if you have not already done so, please sign your child up on the parent portal.  We are still short drivers at this time.  Thank you to those of you who have already committed to driving.  Please ensure that you have a current driver's abstract on file, they are only valid for 2 years.
*please reread the field trip information prior to our outing on Friday.  We included some details specific to this event
*please ensure that book bags are returned each day as we also use them at school, please ask your child which book is for their Reader's Workshop group presentation as they should be practicing this book the most
*please send 'inside shoes' for your child if you have not already done so, especially with the change in weather, we need these to keep our school dry and safe
*please send a change of clothes to school for your child, in case of an accident as this will save you a trip to the school
*we continue to have 'Family Reading' each Friday.  Everyone is welcome to join us (including siblings)

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Hi Everyone,

It has been a busy week in Division 6.  We have wrapped up all of our Halloween activities and are back to learning about Canada.  Everyone is very excited about our new Reader's Workshop activities and Canada Theme booklet.  I hope that you can spend some time with your children discussing what a great country Canada is and why we are so lucky to live here.
