April 28/22

 Hi Everyone,

I hope you are all well and have been getting outside to enjoy our pockets of sunshine.  I am really happy to be back at work and was pleased to hear that the 4 days I was away went smoothly.

Updates/Reminders/Thank you's

*this week we learned a lot about Fairview's forest.  Our fantastic guide showed us the different varieties of trees and shared some interesting facts about the flora and fauna at Fairview

*next week we will introduce week 12 of our spelling program.  It is a review week so we will be completing it over a two week period, having our quiz on Friday, May 13th

*just a reminder to please practice the book that comes home with a post-it in it.  Thank you!

*an Earth Day 3 R's booklet will be coming home tomorrow.  Please review this with your child.  It can remain at home

*your child has been working on an animal research project with Mrs. Holmes in the library (these are being added to their memory books).  Today, each pair of students made a habitat for their animal using 'loose parts'. Please ask your child what they have learned about their animal and have them describe their habitat.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

April 14/22

 Hi Everyone,

I hope you all enjoy a fantastic long weekend.  I will look forward to hearing all about Easter from your children when they return to school on Tuesday.

Updates/Reminders/Thank you's

*A big welcome to our new student, Cohen.  Prior to his arrival, we talked about how it is difficult to be the new person in a class, particularly part way into the school year.  Your children have really stepped up to welcome him to our class.  Well done, Division 10!

*Today your child will be bringing home their sock bunny and a small, wrapped package.  It is not food! It is a little bit of therapuddy they can play with and I've asked them not to open it until they are at home and ask you for permission

*cross country started yesterday and we had a huge turnout!  Practices will be Tuesdays/Thursdays and I will need to leave immediately after the bell.  As I mentioned last week, as a safety measure, I will send your child to the office to be picked up if no one has arrived at bell time.

*welcome back to Mrs. Gobeil (EA) and goodbye to Miss McIntire (EA filling in for Mrs. G).

*welcome to Mrs. Daisy (EA) who will also be working in our class at times.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

April 7, 2022

 Hi Everyone,

I hope you are all well.

Updates/Reminders/Thank you's

*we are currently encountering a lot of 'mixed' weather days.  Please ensure that your child has a jacket each day as we do go outside  rain/shine

*we will be continuing our spelling program the next two weeks, despite them being 4 day weeks.  Next week, the quiz will be on Thursday due to the holiday on Friday

*please pay for your child's memory book/online field trips via the parent portal if you have not already done so.

*please send in headphones/earbud in a labeled bag. Thank you!

*cross country permission forms went home yesterday with students who were interested.  Practices are Tuesdays/Thursdays after school and I am one of the coaches so I will need to leave the classroom right after the bell.  If your child is not picked up on time on those days, I will send them to the office so that they have a safe place to stay until you arrive

*thank you to Hailey's mom for organizing our Scholastic Book Club order

*Please see information below for anyone who is interested in participating in Fairview's yearbook cover contest
