February 27/20

Hi Everyone,

Our very busy February is almost coming to an end.  We had a lot of fun activities, culminating with our 'Pink Parade' yesterday.  This was a big success and it was great to see some of our local RCMP officers joining us.  We walked to Laityview Elementary where many of their students lined the pathway around Volker Park.  There were lots of smiles and lots of pink!

Updates/Reminders/Thank you's

*Monday, we are celebrating Dr. Suess's birthday.  Your child is invited to wear something blue, red or 'Dr. Suess' themed
*Our skating field trip is next Thursday.  At this point, we do not have enough drivers.  I will make a decision about whether to proceed with the field trip on Tuesday, March 3rd.  Please sign your child up for this trip before that time.  If you are able to drive, please ensure you have a current driver's abstract on file if you are volunteering to drive.  Thank you!  If you need any paperwork, please email me at :Amanda_roberts@sd42.ca and I can send it home with your child
*please sign up for a conference time via the parent portal if you have not already done so
*a big thank you to Tatum and Natalie's families for their donations of a new book to our classroom (via the Book Fair).  We have read them both and added them to our 'Robert Munsch' book bin to be further enjoyed
*hot lunch is Wednesday, March 11th.  Please sign up online with the PAC if you are interested (see above)
*we had a great turn out for grandparent's day.  A good time was had by all!

Have a great weekend,

February 12/20

Hi Everyone,

I hope you all enjoy your extra long family day weekend!

Updates/Reminders/Thank you's

*Please keep your eye out for portal emails regarding our upcoming conferences:  March 12th and 13th.  The format will be the same as the previous time.  You sign up for a 15 minute time slot, come at that time to look at your child's work with him/her and then we all meet together for an additional 15 minutes (for a total of half an hour).

*We have also sent in a request for Mrs. Gallop to approve our next skating field trip on March 5th so you will be getting a portal announcement about that shortly as well

*We have also planned field trips to see a play at the The Act Theater (Drivers needed) and Grouse Mountain (bus transportation but some volunteers will be needed)  (May 11th)

*February 20th will be the 100th day of school.  This year all of the primary staff are asking students to wear 100.  For example, a t-shirt with 100 pom poms or google eyes, wear 100 bracelets or hair ties.  We have done this in the past and it's been a lot of fun!  Thank you for your support with this, we are hoping to have a small parade to share our creations with the other primary classes who are participating

*please note: the PINK PARADE on February 26th will now be at 9:00 (not between recess and lunch as I originally said). Thank you!

*A form for ordering 'Smencils' came home in your child's planner yesterday if you are interested in participating in this fundraiser

*Thank you to the families who sent in treats for our Valentine's Party.  They were much appreciated!

*Thank you to Noah's mom for helping us with a special art project

Thank you,

Amanda Roberts
