Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our celebration today.  The students have learned a lot about the human body and it was fun to share it all with you.  For those of you who couldn't make it, please take a few minutes at home to review the body/brain with your child and ask them to sing the songs for you.

Next week we will begin a unit about nutrition.  This will be a shorter unit as we have already discussed some aspects of it during the body unit.

In math we are working on identifying numbers and place value.  We are looking at place value to the hundreds place but we learned a new card game to practice place value to the tens place which is our real focus.  Ask your child to teach you place value war.  It is a fun game to play at home on a rainy day and it only requires a pack of cards (face cards removed).

We have now finished our 100 High Frequency Word list but the grade ones will continue receiving 'Words of the Week'.  I will be selecting these from words that are commonly used in their reading/writing to begin with and then we will focus on expanding our descriptive vocabulary.
