Hi Everyone!

We have had a busy and exciting week in Division 8!  We were fortunate enough to have Leyton Schnellert co-teach a lesson in our class on Tuesday.  He is an 'educator of educators' and several teachers from the district came in to observe.  Short video clips of the lesson were taken and will be used for teaching purposes with other educators.  Your children were all very engaged and came up with thoughtful answers to Mr. Schnellert's questions.  He was very impressed! We were focusing on a story about compassion called 'The Invisible Boy' if you would like to talk to your child about it.

Today we were fortunate enough to have 'Dan' come in and talk to us about local wild animals.  We now all know what to do if we encounter a cougar or bear.  Dan even brought in a stuffed cougar and a bear skin that we all had the opportunity to touch!

Reminders/Updates/Thank you's

*There seems to be some confusion regarding the 'lice letter' that came home with all students in the school this week.  Many people signed/returned it but the letter indicated to only return it if you did NOT want your child checked.  I completely understand your confusion and I noticed that nobody had checked 'No' so I assume you all want your children checked.  If this is NOT the case, please email me and let me know.  Thank you!
*on February 1st we will be starting 'Club Red' (information package to follow). Our first special school wide read will be 'Flashlight Reading'.  Students should bring a flashlight from home for this.  I just wanted to give you a 'heads up' now in case you need to purchase/find a flashlight :)
*There is no school for students tomorrow (Professional Development Day for teachers)
*Please ensure that you check your child's backpack for spelling homework on Wednesday  and/or Thursday nights and offer help as needed.  Thank you!
*Just a reminder that the book in your child's book bag that has a post-it in it is for their Reader's Workshop presentation and that they should practice the pages they are presenting at night
