January 29, 2016

Hi Everyone,

I hope you all have a terrific weekend!  Here are some updates and reminders about the upcoming weeks.

*next Wednesday is our bake sale.  Please send in treats for the sale and a loonie or twoonie so your child can purchase a treat or two.  All funds raised will be donated to the O.W.L Society.
*****VOLUNTEERS ARE STILL NEEDED FOR THIS, PLEASE SEE THE PREVIOUS POST    FOR THE TIMES*****

*Our 'ACT' field trip is coming up on Tuesday, February 9th.  Thank you to Luca's mom (2), Max's mom (4), Tony's mom (3), Jaxon's mom (3), Vincent's mom (4) and Emily's mom (3) for driving (the number beside your name is the number of children I have recorded that you can take, if this number is incorrect please contact me on Monday)  Mrs. Rowledge-Toscani's parents have a little room to help us out but we are still in need of one more driver if someone is available.  Please contact me on Monday if you are.  Thank you!!!

*Scholastic book orders are coming home today and are due on February 10th.  Remember that you can now pay online.

*We had our first spelling quiz today!  Everyone was very excited.  I have told the students that next week I will not be allowing capitals in words when they are not needed-those will be marked as incorrect.  Please encourage your students to practice using lower case letters at home to help them develop this good habit.

*Thank you to Brianna's dad for volunteering during our owl stations on Wednesday.  They were a lot of fun!

*A correction on the calendar-our Valentine's party is on Friday, Feb. 12th (thanks to Luca's mom for letting me know of my error).  Please see the previous post for who is brining treats and a list of the class names for writing Valentines.

*I have added a new link to our blog, it is the song the boys and girls have learned with Mrs. Godfrey (see poetry and more books).  Enjoy the song, it is catchy!!!!

*Also, a reminder that while I encourage the boys/girls to go outside rain or shine I will not be allowing them to go out if they aren't dressed appropriately for the weather or have a change of clothes (unless you send me a note saying otherwise).  Some students are showing up with light hoodies on expecting to go outside in the pouring rain during choice days.  They then spend the remainder of the day complaining about being wet :)  Thank you for sending appropriate gear or a change of clothes so that they can go outside whenever the opportunity arises! :)
