December 2, 2013

Hi Everyone,

I apologize that this posting is a little later than usual but I have been busy preparing for our upcoming conferences.  Thank you to everyone for signing up for a time to meet this Thursday.  I will be sending home reminders of your time tomorrow.  They will be taped inside your child's planner to ensure that they get to you.

We had a fantastic time dissecting our owl pellets last week.  I hope your children took some time to tell you all about it.  I was so impressed with the way they just dove right in and how inquisitive they were about locating all of the bones and discovering which animals they came from.  These will be on display during the conferences so you can take a look and discuss these with your children at that time. (see photos below of the children 'in action'-we have some real scientists in the making!)

Reminders/Information

*your child is to attend the conference with you on Thursday but there is no school for students that day
*skating notices are due this by Wednesday, we presently only have drivers for 2 students.  If I do not have enough drivers by Friday I will, unfortunately have to cancel the field trip.  I know this is a busy time for everyone but hopefully we will be able to make this work.
*students will be asked to wear their pajamas for the Christmas concerts, they are also welcome to wear Santa hats but they should fit snugly so they don't fall off during our amazing dance moves (a big thank you to Miss Lukacs for choreographing/teaching our class on her own time-you will love the performance!)
*our class is taking a leadership role in collecting toys/money for the Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows Hamper Society.  All donations are due in by December 10th.  Thanks so much for your support!

I will look forward to meeting with all of you on Thursday!  Thank you, Amanda Roberts
This is 'Pokey'.  He is a barred owl and everyone loved him!  Our class owl puppet has been named after him :)

 Dissecting teams hard at work!

Sharing our discoveries with our big buddies.  This time the little buddies get to be the teachers!
